The Eagle

Most of life’s problems look enormous when you’re standing in the middle of them. The argument feels bigger. The setback feels bigger. The fear feels bigger. The uncertainty feels bigger. That’s because when you’re standing on the ground, all you can see is what’s directly in front of you. I’ve been there more times than I can count. A bad day at work feels like the end of the world. A health scare convinces you things will never be normal again. A problem takes up so much space in your mind that it becomes the only thing you can see. Then time passes. You gain perspective. And suddenly the thing that felt like a mountain turns out to be a speed bump. The eagle understands something most of us forget. When the view is blocked, go higher. It doesn’t waste time fighting every gust of wind. It uses the wind to rise above the storm and see what others can’t. There’s a lesson in that. Not every problem needs an immediate reaction. Not every criticism deserves your attention. Not every battle is worth your energy. Sometimes the smartest thing you can do is step back. Breathe. Get quiet. Look at the situation from a different angle. Because clarity rarely comes from chaos. It comes from perspective. The older I get, the more I realize that most of the things I worried about never happened. Most of the things that upset me didn’t matter six months later. Most of the mountains were never mountains at all. They just looked bigger because I was standing too close. So when life gets loud, don’t get louder. Rise above it. The view is different up there. And sometimes the answer you’ve been searching for has been visible the entire time. You just needed a little altitude to see it.
